Pierra Day Two

Change at the top in Pierra Menta. Now Michele Boscacci and Davide Magnini are the new leaders in the general rankings. However, the second stage was won by locals William Bon Mardion - Xavier Gachet. Thursday saw a heavy role reversal in the men's race. Matteo Eydallin - Nadir Maguet, feeling tired, finished fifth and slipped to fourth position. The two home champions battled it out to the end with the respected couple Boscacci - Magnini finishing second. Still third was the French team of Mathéo Jacquemoud - Samuel Equy. Fifth place overall and fourth in the stage for Austrian Jakob Herrmann and Swiss Martin Anthamatten. No surprises in the women's ranking.
Axelle Mollaret - Emily Harrop have practically already secured the 37th edition. Sunshine, clear skies, and a super technical stage thrilled the spectators of the Tour de France of ski mountaineering, who crowded into the village of Haute-Savoie early in the morning. Awaiting the 210 accredited couples at the starting line were five climbs, one overhead ridge section to be tackled with skis in the backpack, and no less than 2600 md+. Another big challenge for the competitors who, in just two days, grinded out more than 5000 m of ascent. As anticipated, no surprises on the women's side with the sisters Léna and Candice Bonnel always second and the Italians Martina Valmassoi - Elena Nicolini firmly on the lowest step of the podium. With the clouds getting thicker and thicker above the sky of Areches, the athletes of the young categories will also be competing tomorrow. For them, being at the Pierra Menta will be a dream that comes true, a unique opportunity to run on the tracks that have made the legend of this race. Everyone is hoping that the much-anticipated rain will turn into snow as the temperature drops a few degrees... otherwise it will be hard, very hard for everyone.
