THE ADAMELLO SKI RAID JUNIOR OPENS THE NEW SEASON OF THE GRANDE COURSE JEUNES CIRCUIT

La Grande Course Jeunes has made a successful debut on the Presena glacier. The first of seven GCJ races in pairs, in which 50 teams from across Italy took part on November 30th at the first Adamello Ski Raid Junior, was met with great enthusiasm. The race will contribute to the ranking in the 21st Memorial Fabio Stedile, a ski mountaineering race organised by the Adamello Ski Team in collaboration with the Coppa delle Dolomiti circuit.
All in all, an excellent opening round for La Grande Course Jeunes, an international circuit entirely dedicated to the champions of the future, which counts seven junior races in the years 2015/2016, including the French Pierra Menta and Altitoy-Ternua, the Italian Trofeo Mezzalama and Millet Tour du Rutor Extrême and the Swiss Patrouille des Glaciers.

The first edition of the Adamello Ski Raid Junior was won by Pietro and Nicolò Canclini of the Alta Valtellina ski club, who dominated the boys' junior category, Daniele Soppelsa of the Dolomiti Ski Alp Ski Club and Patrick Bertolina of the Alta Valtellina ski club in the boys' cadets category, Giulia Compagnoni and Enrica Rodigari of the Alta Valtellina ski club in the girls' junior category, and Giulia Murada and Elisa Pedrolini of the Polisportiva Albosaggia sports club in the girls' cadets category.
Fifty pairs of athletes competed in a race covering 3300 meters with a 450-metre elevation, including three climbs and two descents in the basin of the Presena glacier: a route that the boys' junior category faced in two laps, while the other challenges were played in a single lap.

The next must-see Grande Course Jeunes race is scheduled in France, on March 13th and 14th, 2015, on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the Pierra Menta, in Arèches-Beaufort.
